Did you know that a clean and organized garage not only provides the best way to use your space but it also increases the value of your home? Here are some tips to help you maintain a clean and organized garage space.
First think about how your garage is used. There is a reason why you need or want to clean up and organize your garage. In order to achieve your goal you need to decide how it needs to be organized in order for you to use the space most efficiently.
There are several reasons why you may want to keep your garage neat and organized. You can make use of the added storage space, create a home workshop, use it to store another vehicle or even provide another place for the kids to play.
Getting started on cleaning up a messy garage sometimes seems like an insurmountable task. Make sure you are giving yourself enough time to do the job right the first time and don't try to rush. The garage is probably one of the largest rooms you have and it will take time to organize it. Most garages require at least a full day if not more.
Take it step-by-step
Break down your efforts into small tasks instead of just diving in head first. Make goals for each portion of cleaning and organizing each area and take a gradual approach. This will help you to see your accomplishments while you work so you don't become discouraged and give up.
Step One: Remove everything from the garage
In most cases it is best to just empty the space, sweep it out and start with a fresh clean slate. Put everything in the driveway or on the lawn in organized clusters so you can see what you actually have and start forming a plan on how or where you want to store everything.
Put Items In One Of These Four Groups
Save: This is what goes back in, so think carefully. If you don't need it and haven't used it in years consider if it can go into one of your other piles.
Donate: Anything still in good working condition can be donated. From clothing to furniture to appliances. Some charities are even willing to come pick up large donations from you.
Recycle: Set up recycle bins and recycle what you can. Glass, cans, tin, plastics and paper can all be recycled so find out where your nearest recycling center is.
Throw out: While most items will fit into garbage cans or bins, some things may need you to call for some disposal help. If you have a lot of garbage or some very large garbage you can rent a large dumpster for the task.
Cleaning out your garage is a significant but rewarding task. You will thank yourself every time you get to enjoy your nice, new space.
Organizing your garage can make a big difference in the functionality and feel of your home. This is a big space and when used well you may be surprised what you can do with it. For more tips on how to organize this space visit: http://whiteshelf.org/simple-garage-organization-ideas/

Is your garage getting to that stage where you can't find anything and
struggle to make your way through if for all the general junk that your family
has accumulated in there?
Well, don't worry, you are not alone - most of the garages in the country are
like that too! But it's not a disaster and however bad it looks it can be
tackled and made into a useful, effective space, you simply need to know
1. Make a Plan
Sounds obvious but most people charge into a re-organization project with
very little idea of what they want to achieve or how. By taking a little bit of
time in advance to think of this you will be more motivated to complete the job.
Measure and really look at your space and think about how you would like it to
work for you then plan your garage storage layout to fit.
Set aside a day, rope in the family (or if they are more likely to get in the
way than help, arrange someone to take them out) and be ruthless. Ideally you
want to empty out the entire space and sort it as you go to put it back in. Have
4 piles for stuff - Keep, Sell, Donate, Toss. - and stick to them! If you plan
to sell or donate it and it's not gone within a month put it in the trash. If
you've not used something for over 2 years and it has no sentimental value -
trash! If it's broken, no longer useful, not needed - trash!
Once you know what you are keeping you need to put it away in an efficient
manner. There are so many different garage storage ideas out there - find out
what suits your space and use it. Here are some ideas to get you started:
- Get the big items off the floor first - you could build a mezzanine storage
floor or install some ceiling hoists for bike and large sports equipment.
- Fit garage shelves to the walls, ensuring that you allow
for different depths of shelf so that all sorts of stuff fits on.
- Get lots of plastic storage bins with lids to protect things from the
- Labels!!! You don't want to have to look through 10 different boxes to find
the Christmas lights!
- Think about how often you need to access things and store them accordingly -
for example the box full of souvenirs from your kid's childhood can go high up
but you will want household tools much closer to hand.
- A tool board above a work bench is useful if you want your tools to
- Weigh down an old plastic bin with rocks then use it to store long handled
- If you have a workbench, can you fit a cheap set of drawers under it - can
be useful for storing small bits like screws.
Once you've done the hard work and have a fantastically organized,
multifunctional space in your garage make it a quarterly job (at least) to keep
on top of it so that it doesn't turn to chaos again!
It's surprisingly satisfying when you've done a great job. A great garage
storage layout can transform it from a dumping ground to a workshop or den or
playroom or, well whatever you want it to be - it's your garage to enjoy

The big picture behind every floor renovation idea is always to obtain a lost long lasting and attractive surface!! There are various options that are available when it comes to flooring; however it is important to understand that certain flooring is more effective in certain areas and suited for a specific environment. But, how do you ensure that you're choosing the right flooring? The solution is simple, it's always best to seek professional guidance from an expert before you remodel your flooring.
We always look for flooring that is durable, easy to maintain, strong, slip- resistant and off course looks fantastic. In most cases, flooring is done to cover stained and worn cement in your basement, bathrooms, and garage; this could be easily achieved with epoxy flooring that would provide the area with a pleasant and smooth finish. Epoxy floors also work to prevent water damage and seepage and thus it preserves and enhances your interior floor.
While every part of the house gets a day for beautification, the garage is however overlooked. Epoxy garage flooring, is however an accurate solution to grease and dirt coated garage floors. These days, most epoxy garage floor contractors offer a variety of colors and designs and also options to blend two to three colors together to get a personalized look which means your garage can also have the same look and feel of beauty as the rest of the house. This flooring also contains an ultraviolet inhibitor that reduces any damage that could be caused by sunlight and also it prevents the flooring from fading. By applying an epoxy floor coating to your garage it is easy to maintain your garage as a clean, dry and moisture-free zone.
The most important part is that, the installation of epoxy flooring takes hardly a few hours if the right contractor with the right equipments is chosen. For best results it is necessary to have the floor cleaned and stains removed before the epoxy is mixed and applied to the surface so that the epoxy could adhere and look uniform on the surface. Even though it is a quick process the output is long lasting and impressive, it could make you feel that you are driving into a car outlet and not your garage. Epoxy garage flooring can give you a much better look that garage floor paint and the cost will also suit your pocket!
