Recently I read a funny one liner on the web which goes like this, "Only in
America do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the driveway, and put our
useless junk in the garage". I'm sure many of us see a little of ourselves in
this joke, except my stuff isn't useless junk.
Seriously, we take very good care of our house; always find ourselves busy in
organizing & decorating our house because we see that as an investment. But
we tend to use our garage as just a place for storing unused household items
and forget the garage is a big part of our investment. Be that as it may,
everything from an old juicer, to that precious but broken night lamp; the
treadmill which you no one uses anymore, unused sports gear- basically
everything eventually makes its way to the garage! Soon it becomes a dumping
ground for all kind of things.
Maybe now is a good time to increase the value of our home and dive into a
garage organization process..
You can make your job simpler by just following these 2 basic steps
1. Organize what you have got in hand, and
2. Use Inexpensive Garage Organizers to systematically arrange for proper
storage these items as well as plan for the future.
Organizing your own Garage is not an expensive affair; all you need to know
is what, where & how!
1. The first step is to know what you have that needs stored. For this, you
may want to move everything out of your garage.
2. Once you get a feel for what you're dealing with, sort out all the items
according to your usage. Sort out the stuff which you use very frequently, other
articles which you use less often, yet other things which you just want to keep
stored but hardly ever use. Whatever is left over may make a nice Goodwill
3. You may have to make some hard decisions and end up giving away the things
which are just a pile of things you simply don't need and know you never will.
Throw these away or recycle them, but move them out.
4. Figure out how much space you need for parking the car/s. Leave maximum
space so that you can park smoothly and get in and out easily and then measure
the free space available for the rest of the stuff.
5. Classify the things according to how you are planning to organize the
garage. You can identify heavy articles for floor cabinets, bikes and other
hang-able articles for hooks etc.Once you clean your garage space, it's time to
look for the right garage organization system.
6. You can choose from a variety of inexpensive garage organization tools
a. Peg boards and wall shelves to keep smaller items,
b. Plastic cabinets to store heavier articles and lock away hazardous
chemicals and metals,
c. Wall mounted hooks to hold your bikes, shovels, ladders etc.
7. Try to make the maximum use of vertical space, keep the ground
de-cluttered as much as you can. You can store away the articles you use rarely
on the upper most wall mounted shelves/cabinets.
8. Make a spare "Extra" cabinet or a "Donation" cabinet in a spare corner for
unwanted stuff which will keep piling on as the time progresses.
9. And most importantly, always make it a point to keep your garage in order,
as an everyday practice.
This keeps the area safe, clean, secure and can even offer a usable work
space for personal hobbies, building that hot rod or just tinkering around to
look busy. BUT, most importantly it can increase the value of your home by as
much as much as 20%.
Garage is the best place to store all your household tools & other
equipments that you need occasionally but it'll be difficult to complete your
work without them. The only solution you have is to keep everything organized in
cabinets. GarageStorageCabinets in Stillwater, Ok is offering garage
organization services from past 15 years. To find more details on garage storage
